Resaca May 14-15 After the fighting, Mary Green buries soldiers of the 40th, 41st, 42nd, 43rd, and 52nd where they fell, in her rose garden. Her family eventually donates two acres for what became Resaca Confederate Cemetery, the first in Georgia dedicated to Southern soldiers. In 2005, 42nd Georgia descendant, Robert Eliott, paused at the gravesite of B.B. Ayers of the 42nd. The final resting place of J. H. Martin of the 43rd Georgia can be seen in the background

Ruff's Mill July 4 In 1864, Ruff's Mill manufacturered cloth for Confederate uniforms. It was torched July 4 in the aftermath of fighting, which resulted in the capture of two soliders of the 41st Georgia. Today, the ruins of Ruff's Mill are part of the Covered Bridge Historic District in Smyrna and can be accessed via the Silver Comet Rail Trail.
