"Hell Hole" dwarfs
Gary Ray Goodson, Sr.
The yankees took cover from the fire of Hood's Corp in this natural depression. The Georgia Brigade was positioned behind tombstones in the church cemetery about a mile away. The yankees would later call the Battle of New Hope Church the "hell hole". Bet you didn't know they were referring to an actual hole.
