This letter to Elizabeth Leak Carlisle is from her neice, Anna Herod, daughter of Elizabeth's brother, Tilman Leak. The reference to "Willie" in the second paragraph is very likely Elizabeth's son and our grandfather, William Madison Carlisle. For more insight, see Margie Fuller's comments.

My Dear Aunt I will write you a few lines to let you know that I made my visit to Cousin Georgies. Am back at home again. I went the 23rd of Oct & came back the 6 or Nove. I had a nice time indeed.

I taken your letter for Georgie to read. She was glad to hear from you but you mentioned so many of the childrens names in it that she knew nothing about. She said Willie was the baby when she left there.

Her and Frank are looking well & are getting along very well. Claras husband is very low with consumption. She lives 7 miles from her mother we went to see her one day.

Gertrude came on a visit while I was there. She lives at Ludlow. Clara has two children. The girl is 8. She stays with Georgie & goes to school. The little boy is two years old. I had a letter from Georgie since I came home. She said that she had brought him home with her since I was there. Georgie said he was real good didn't give her any trouble. They are both real sweet children.

This leaves us all well ever hoping it will find you the same. I had a letter from Henry not long since he was well. He said that he would go back to Arizona in Dec.

I haven't heard from the Old Home in quite a while now. We haven't had any cold weather yet nothing but a few frosty mornings.

Well as I have nothing interesting to write I will close. Be sure to write Dear Aunt I am always glad to hear from you. Give my love to one & all & write real soon to your loving niece.
