This letter is from Elizabeth's daughter, Bessie. The envelop is addressed Mrs. S. J. Carlisle, Folsom Ga, R2, c/o AB Carlisle. She is obviously living with her son, Bascomb, at the time. The "Andrew" referenced is Bessie's husband, Andrew J. Thomason. References to "Baxter" and "A.J." are their sons.

Tifton, Ga. 11/24/12

Mrs. S.J. Carlisle Cass Ga.

Dear Mother -- Yours to hand was glad indeed to hear from you. We are all well at present -- Baby is fine he is getting fat as a pig he certianly did miss you especially late at evening he would look for you to carry him out for a walk he likes persimmon and he will go to the tree behind the Pickens house and try to shake persimmons off and he still drinks beer. We went up to Sunday School this afternoon our school is coming right on and the people seem to begin to take an interest in it.

Andrew will kill a hog in the morning you ought to be up here to eat fresh meat.

Baxter is going to school at Tilton he boards over there he goes Monday and comes home Friday I certianly do miss him. "By the way" I must tell you about our Bro. Porter he turned out to be a Campbellite and the baptist bretheren are kindes bothered about letting him preach in their church they say he can't preach for them any more.

We spent the day with Mrs Roberts last Sunday

I have made baby aprons and he looks real cute in them I am making me some everyday waist. Andrew bought me a gingham dress and I wish you could see it. I wanted a pretty one for a Sunday dress and he got it black with a white pin check and black and white embroidry to trim it it would make you a nice dress.

You spoke of the stockings of course I gave you the two pair one pair would not do you much good. Andrew had a letter from Mr. Ben Martin he sent him the check for the syrup and they wanted 20 gls more but he can't spare them any more this time.

My hens are laying very well for this time of the year. Our Irish potatos were fine made six or seven bushel.

"Monday Night"

I begin this last might and so I will try to finish tonight. Andrew killed our biggest hog today it will weigh about 250 or maybe more. I wish Mr. Alexamder could get moved before the roads gets too bad I wrote him today to come right ahead we could manage some way. Andrew wants to go to Atlanta for a week or ten days and they could stay with me and A.J. while he was gone. If the weather stays nice and they will stay with Andrew I may pay you all a visit between now and Xmas I don't mind the cold weather if it don't rain and blow. so if this nice weather continues I may venture out but won't say for certian yet. I am looking for Maggie to come soon. I wish she would come this week. Baxter likes to go to school. Andrew feels like he is ruined he need him so bad at home but he must go to school. The collards are fine now there has been so many big frost on them.

The people in the bend are well as far as I know. Miss Bell still comes for milk Well news is scare so I will close for this. Write me soon

As ever your loving daughter
Bessie Thomason
